Annapolis, MD - February 27, 2008 -
The Principals from Mosaic Technologies and hundreds of other business people packed a rally and participated in a day of lobbying in Annapolis Wednesday, urging Maryland lawmakers to repeal a 6 percent sales tax on their services.
The event, held by the Maryland Computer Services Association, Tech Council of Maryland and Maryland Chamber of Commerce, drew more than a dozen legislators. Owners and employees of at least 100 information technology-related companies filled a downtown Annapolis hotel meeting room and every stairwell, hallway, nook and cranny around it.
Business owners and legislators spoke about the harm the tax would cause if it's not repealed. Mosaic Principal, Scott Samborn was also interviewed by Baltimore Radio Station WBAL.
The General Assembly approved the 6% Tech Tax in the eleventh hour of a special session in November, and the business community has since come together to press for a repeal before it is collected starting July 1.
